Study on the Spatial Network Characteristics and Driving Mechanism of the Digital Cultural Industry in the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration

Abstract: The digital cultural industry is a key arena where digital technologies and cultural production converge. This study builds a four-dimensional evaluation framework—innovation, coordination, openness, and sharing—and applies entropy-weighted Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to measure the development level of the digital cultural industry across the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration. We further integrate a modified gravity model, social network analysis, Quadratic Assignment Procedure Regression, and Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) to characterize the spatial association network and uncover its drivers. The results show that: (1) overall development has improved, yet spatial disparities remain pronounced; (2) intercity linkages have intensified, with the network evolving from a flat to a more hierarchical structure, and from a single-center to a multicenter, tiered pattern as intra- and inter-block connections and spillovers strengthen; (3) geographical proximity, economic foundations, and innovation capacity jointly shape network formation, and fsQCA identifies four effective configurational pathways. These findings provide empirical evidence for collaborative governance and differentiated policy design in the region.
